Check out this review:

No joke, when I was looking for Series Speaker the other day, I was having one heck of a time finding it online. When I did finally find it, I made sure I bought it quickly. What follows is my review.

I was impressed with Series Speaker plain and simple. When I placed my order, I had in in my hands within 3 days and that’s no joke. The key is looking for a seller with over a 100 feedback rating on Ebay. I’ve even included an Ebay listing to Series Speaker in this review to make it even easier on you.

what ohm load do you get when you series a dual 4 ohm speaker to eight Series Speaker ohms and a dual 2 ohm speaker to 4 ohms?

Yes. 4 speakers at 4 ohms will total to 1 ohm when connected parallel. 1 ohm is a lot to put on an amp/receiver so be careful. This site shows a diagram on how to hook up in parallel. http://www.termpro.com/articles/spkrz.html

Personally I think Bose speakers are overated and overpriced and I’m not alone — see link), but since you have them here is my input to your question. These speakers have small satellite speakers combined with a larger passive subwoofer. The mid and high frequency sound (directional) is reproduced by the satellites while low frequency (which is non-directional) is reproduced by the subwoofer. They are relatively inefficient speakers … which means they need more power than more efficient speakers to generate a comperable volume. The 10-200 watt range (4-8 ohm) means that they can handle fairly powerful (and expensive) amplifiers, but don’t need big power to provide reasonable listening levels. That said, almost any amplifer on the market will drive them. The 4-8 ohm reference is the impedence (resistance) they present to the amplifier, but once again this is standard and any half way decent amp will work. One thing to keep in mind is that volume (loudness) is not linear with input power. The ear responds logrithmetically, meaning that a small increase in loudness will be perceived for a doubling of input power. Really loud music is in the order of 105-110 decibels (db, a measure of loudness). If this, for example takes 200 watts of power to generate, 3 db lower volume will require half (100 watts), and 3 db less half again (50 watts). You can calculate for yourself that moderate volume (e.g. 60-70 db) will require a small fraction of the 200 watts required for 105-110 db.The point is that a nominal 100 watt amplifier (ignoring the question of differences in “types” of watts) will drive these speakers to moderately loud volumes, and any more will simply cost a lot more and yet only deliver slightly higher volume with rapidly diminished sound quality (since distortion rises as the small speakers are driven harder).I won’t recommend a particular receiver, although a 50 -70 watt NAD or Harmon-Kardon would be a good choice.Hope this helps.

Two 8 Ohm impedance speakers run in series equals 16 Ohms that the TV amp sees. With the two speakers run in parallel you will get 4 Ohm impedance across the TV amp so no it will not wreck the amp.You also want the speakers to be rated at least 15W to make sure you don’t blow the speakers at high volume.

  7. kyebaykid says:

I hope I understand you correctly. If you have long wires permanently attached to each speaker, join the negative wire from speaker A to the positive wire from speaker B and wrap the connection in tape. Then connect the positive wire from speaker A and the negative wire from speaker B to the amplifier.. I hope that’s what you had in mind. You would do the same for each channel.kyebaykid

  8. Sodem O says:

If you add capacitors, it will alter the sound (change the frequency distribution). If you add resistors, you will cut down the volume. You can add a two ohm resistor in series (make sure it has a high enough power rating) but it will eat up half your output power. But do you really need to? Modern amplifiers can handle a fairly wide range of impedance speakers, although with a slight loss in power (but less than by adding a resistor).

  10. King's Fan says:

Yep, I agree with the poster above. Bose has the “name” and marketing but I am not impressed with their sound quality for the price. A Logitech or Altec Lansing brand sounds much better than Bose and you would be saving yourself a couple C-Notes there. Don’t get me wrong, Bose speakers are good, but relative to price range, you can get better sound quality as you mention. For the same price you would be paying for the Bose, you could get yourself Paradigm Atom speakers, a receiver and a subwoofer — you would be putting your Bose speakers to shame.

You have to decrease the bass from the Player unit.Or better buy a good headphone

If you have a sound card then try taking it out, and boot up windows and then turn your pc off, then plug the card back in.if your sound port is built in the moutherboard then it probley would be a hassle to fix, I would find a sound card and plug it in and it works rather then getting the mobo repaired and reinstalling the drivers, or you have bad speakershope this helps

  13. chris_harper1970 says:

I always solder them in-line with the positive wire at the speaker. Cut the positive wire a few inches from the speaker, and solder the cap in series in the wire. Insulate it with some heat shrink tubing. A 220 Microfarad cap is a 6 dB/octave (1st order) hi-pass crossover at 180 Hz.

looking at the spec on bose the only way is by minijack (headphones) depending on tv you would need minijack to minijack cable or minijack to rca. rca’s r red and white phonos on tv
