Is there much latency with the Mbox 2 pro when playing RTAS instruments using MIDI?
Hi,I want to set up a studio again after years of not recording anything (I used to have a digi001 which was pretty good). I've been reading a lot of mixed reviews about pro tools le 8 and M-powered 8. Latency seems to be an issue with M-powered Mixer Dsp as there's no Low Latency Monitoring option as in the M-Box 2 and Digi001 packages. I know you can monitor through a mixer or a soundcard with DSP (profire 2626) but I'm going to be recording some MIDI too and that means I will be depending on plug ins to produce the sound that I hear back (so latency will have to be low). Using the Mbox 2 pro: What's the latency like for playing RTAS instruments through MIDI (from a keyboard or electronic drums)?I'm not sure if I would be better off getting Cubase 5 and a decent firewire soundcard (Focusrite pro 40 or similar) I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop, dual 2.8GHZ pentium 4, 4 GB ram, 200GB 7200rpm drive.

My first advice is….don’t bother using a guitar amp or speaker for vocals – it will sound terrible. If you insist on doing this – you’ll need to let me know what the make and model of the Yamaha “mixer/monitor” is. Is it a mixer? Is it a powered mixer (mixer with amp built in)? If it is a powered mixer that has speaker outputs, you can plug that into the half stack speaker, but like I said it will not sound good. But don’t try to have a guitar amp plugged in at the same time – that will not work. If it is a powered mixer, you really should go out and get a “PA speaker” and use that.
try to check if you can launch another multimedia application to test your audio. if it has the same problem, then u probably need to resintall the audio driver itself
might not be speakers, but could be connections where it plugs in pc. does not sound like a software problem.
using MIDI, i experience no lag,but Line and Mic when im monitoring thru headphones yea i experice some lagtime
Hi, I have no idea how to simulate your problem! But I’ve recently had a group project where we had to teach ourselves how to use simulink and we found the help documents inbuilt to matlab very good and also the mathworks website:http://www.mathworks.com/academia/student_center/tutorials/hope you find what you’re looking for
I’m a DJ from CT too…New Britain to be exact.Anyway, the Behringer mixers are ok for light use, but I would not use one at a club. Gemini Stanton and Numark are OK, but still not the best. If you plan to use the mixer a lot, you really should stick with Rane, Pioneer, Vestax or Denon. You will pay more but those mixers will put up with daily use with no problem.Guitar Center in Manchester and Orange is a good place to shop. Sam Ash in New Haven too.If you want to contact me, click on “Daniel K”.I would just get another DJM 600 or 800 if you can afford it. I have never used either but at that price, they better be good. Here are some others:http://www.zzounds.com/item–VESPMC280http://www.zzounds.com/item–BEHDJX750http://www.zzounds.com/item–BEHDDM4000http://www.zzounds.com/item–PNRDJM700
Wow, you have really thought that out!!! Great Job. I think that will work awesome.
you need some kind of USB or Firewire audio interface to put your mixer into your computer, you can go in through the mic input but it’s not going to sound that good.
While probably not optimum, you could if you had to. You can treat a guitar or bass as if it were a high impedance microphone. You may need a high impedance to low impedance XLR matching transformer or possibly a “direct box” to make the connection.Don
try mixer amps , lower the gain and raise the volume , then adjust the vocals , u can buy a good one for about 1000$ i know its a lot of money but its worth it , power amps feel good too
