I’ve been a bit slow on posting reviews of the last couple of Heath Zed, but it’s time to catch up. Overall, the Heath Zed was great, and I have no problem recommending Heath Zed for anyone wanting one.
I LOVE THIS Heath Zed
How do you raise the microphone level in garageband?
I'm using a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and a mixer Heath Zed (Allen & Heath ZED 428). I'm using it through the USB port and whenever I record using a track without vocals on the Mac, my voice isn't heard. Is there anyway to raise the sound of the microphone?

Easy – just connect the tape outputs on the mixer to line input 1 and 2 on the interface. You may need a 1/4 inch to RCA cable:http://www.zzounds.com/item–HOSCPR20
I recommend a Mackie mixer, something as simple as the 200$ Mackie DFX-12 will work wonders for you and will last longer than the AH brand. You’ll probably need preamp to your mics. Also, you can connect your Mics and Instruments to the mixer and for Mac grab a small Tascam or M-Audio controller which uses Firewire to port the audio into the computer. For mic stands and cables Guitar center is a little over priced.
