On Windows XP (maybe other versions too) you can have multiple input devices and/or multiple output devices. Goto: Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Audio (tab) -> and select the appropriate, “Sound Playback” device. There is a “test hardware” under one of the other tabs (sound?). With this utility, try a few things and it can help you get you thing going.
Hi Mowce: FOH is the abbreviation for Front Of House. This where the music is mixed that the audience hears. A monitor desk usually sits off the stage, and gives the mix the musicians want in each of there monitors. In very small venues, such as clubs and bars, the main mixer most of the time serves double duty as both the F.O.H. mixer and monitor desk to. Usually 24-32 channels is needed for this type of mixing. If every thing is being mic’d, channels will get used up in a hurry so thats why a 3-4 piece band would need such a large mixer. Also, a separate power amp (amps) would be needed for any type of monitor mix too. Hope this has helped.
if you want a clear sound out of the speakers, then leave the gain in the middle. if you want something sounding grainy and distorted, put the gain up some. i hope that answered your question.
i’ve heard nothing but good about behringer. also, behringer tends to give you more for your money.
You can try here for more info on that.http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/95642/General_Discussion/Hercules_Rmx_as_mixer_.html
Aye aye aye amigo, no sé
How big of a mixer do you need? A standard would be about 12 channels. Behringer is the cheapest and they sound like garbage. Tapco is a cheaper brand too, but a lot more quality than Behringer. Not quite the as high as Mackie, but Tapco is made from one of the orignal co-founders of Mackie. So the quality is still dang good for the price. Also are you ever going to be interested in recording? If you are, then you can knock two birds out with one stone here, and get a mixer with firewire or usb capabilites, to be able to multi-track record. Also effects on a mixer are lame. They really are. It’s more of a novelty than anything. No one uses them really. Except for maybe a little reverb. Preamps are the biggest thing in a Mixer. And Mackie Onyx mixers have very solid preamps. But really it depends on the price. I have the Mackie Onyx and love it. It also has an optional firewire card you can buy, so you can multi track record. Since I don’t know what size you are looking for, I’ll just list some that I’ve had good experiences with and would recommend.Tapco Mix .120 – $99http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Mix120/It’s not as bad as a Behringer and still at a really low price. Not the best preamps, but hey if it’s in your budget, it does a fair job.Tapco Mix 260FX – $220http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Mix120/This one is bigger than the one above and it has effects. It’s a pretty solid 12 channel mixer for the price. They upgrade the preamps in this model too as opposed to the one above.Mackie DFX 12 – $250http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DFX12/No one can say bad things about a true Mackie Mixer. Preamps are mediocre, but it’s a solid processor. Plenty of effects and is durable, will last forever. I started out with this and used it for 4 years before getting an Onyx.Yamaha MG166CX – $399http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MG166CX/I’m not huge on Yamaha, but I’ve heard great things about some of their mixers. I just don’t trust a band that makes everything from calculators to motorcyles. But the preamps and effects got stellar reviews.Mackie Onyx 1220 – $580http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Onyx1220/This is what I recommend. Preamps are awesome. Effects are pretty solid. It works like a dream. Plus if you save up another $450 you can buy the optional firewire card at any time, which will allow you to multi-track record.Good luck man!
Nope you got everything you need! you got a very basic setup but once you master your current equipment you may want to buy more advanced kit to do crazy stuff.
Yes, it is possible. You will need to check the sound card to see if it supports a line level input (most do). You will need a 2.5mm minijack to stereo RCA cable (red, white). This will also allow you to record the mixes to your hard drive.Have fun and good luck!
Radio Shack
On a very basic level…Plug the mic into a channel on the desk using an XLR mic cable.Set the preamp gain such that the channel signal is strong, but not clipping.Leave the EQ flat, although (depending on what the mic is being used for) you might want to engage a HPF/lo-cut if the mixer has it (or just EQ out some lows).Make sure the channel is assigned to the main outputs (not sure if such a small mixer would have this anyway).Run the L+R main outputs of the mixer to the powered speakers using two XLR cables. Turn the speaker on, and I would probably set their operating level / input gain to unity, so you have the most control over the volume from the desk.Bring the master fader and channel fader up to the appropriate desired levels.
I think you need the 01x to use VST plugs.
prolly $5 ea
