I’ve been a bit slow on posting reviews of the last couple of Audio Interface, but it’s time to catch up. Overall, the Audio Interface was great, and I have no problem recommending Audio Interface for anyone wanting one.

I LOVE THIS Audio Interface

How do you turn on an audio interface?
How do you do Audio Interface that on a mac? I have a microphone plugged in but it won't work unless the audio interface is turned on!

Could be a reversed hot on the power plug. Could also be that your computer is not grounded or poorly grounded on the third pin wire of the electrical plug.

You can either get a 4-input audio interface (AI) but the one which has separate control for each input since you are planning to record drums and for each input (kick, snare, hi-hat, etc.) you definitely need extra controls separately. These AIs with multiple inputs and extra controls will cost you more. The other way doing it would be, getting an interface which would have 1 or 2 inputs. You run your drum’s 4 mics through mixer and the mix out to AI and the AI out to computer. This would work out better for you if you already had a mixer and mics. However, to get more effective control of each input on your computer, 4-input AI is the best choice. I just happened to check the following link on Motu’s AI which costs roughly $250.http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/microbookHope this helps.

An audio interface converts an analog signal into a digital signal. Some have as few as a single stereo i/o and professional studios have up 96 inputs and outputs. A mixer is used combine several audio sources (microphones) to be sent to a single input of an audio interface. A mixer has other functions including eq (bass & treble) controls, to enhance the sound of of the microphones. For the purpose of basic recording (a voice and guitar) a mixer is not a necessity, but for recording a band or ensemble, a mixer is typically required as multiple mic’s need to be combined to a single input on an i/o.

Audio Interfaces are intimidating beasts… but they aren’t that complicated when you break them down. They provide 3 things to your home studio:1. Mic Preamps – to boost the relatively weak electrical signal from a mic / instrument.2. A/D Converters – to convert the electrical signal from a mic / instrument into a digital form that can be understood by your computer.3. Phantom Power – required for condenser style studio microphones. So the good news is that all Audio Interfaces provide these 3 things for you. Now on to which one is right for you.First, you need to consider the interface type that works with your computer: USB or FireWire. Both will work fine for you, but FireWire has a quicker transfer rate so all else being the same I’d go with that.Next, determine how many inputs you want to record to different tracks at the same time. What does this mean? Well, if you want to record guitar and vocals… you could use 1 mic and print them both to the same track. The downside is that you can’t work with each independently to change the level, add effects, etc.You can use 1 input to record the guitar… then use that same input to record the vocals later. By layering this way you can get away from multiple inputs., but if you want to play guitar and vocals with each on its own dedicated track you will need 2 inputs.Lastly, decide if you want to have MIDI capability. Some provide this, while others do not so make sure to check if this is something that you would like (i.e if you want to record MIDI drums, synthesizers, etc).

Grüße Fräulein, Sturm-Verbot-Führer, find a framework which you can carry out the cable of your guitar that I have no idea what it is called in USB, or RCA, if you want to shell outside the serious money, I think that they have one which supports up to four of these cables and covers it with the usb or with the .8″ acoustics, and then use just the line inside on your soundcard, on my mixer, which was all RCA, I has right convert the connectors of rca in .8″ and passage in the soundcard, large functioned

Not really. If you just want to deal with your audio files, you can use an recorder software to help you.It has a powerful functions to both record voice as well as edit audio files.Maybe it can help. For more info, you can go to(for Windows Vista users) http://www.softwarewikipedia.com/index.php/ISofter_Audio_Recorder_Vista or if you use WindowsXP,you can go tohttp://www.softwarewikipedia.com/index.php/DvdXsoft_Sound_Recorder_XP Hope it can help you. Wish you have a good time on Christmas!

It depends on what interface you buy. The idea behind M-Powered is that you get the Pro Tools software with a wider selection of interfaces than Digidesign (Avid Audio) offers. So you can use just about any M-Audio interface to run Pro Tools. I believe that the Fast Track USB will work but here is a comprehensive list of interfaces:http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=s%3AmpoweredGood Luck!,KDecka.

A sound card can be installed inside your computer if you have a desktop. USB/Firewire would mean they are external devices that plug into either your USB port or Firewire port.Creative X-fi is a better quality. USB/Firewire interface comes in handy when you have no room internally in your computer, it allows the option for external devices.Cheers

sounds like are close — the devil is always in the details with these types of projects:An Audio Interface converts the electrical signal (analog) from your mics or instruments into a digital signal that your computer can understand. So in this way it performs the same function as the Sound Card in your computer. The difference is that Audio Interfaces typically have mic preamps onboard and provide phantom power for condenser mics. If you already have a Mixer… your mic preamps and phantom power are already taken care of. Also some Audio Interfaces have a MIDI input/output interface on board to provide MIDI capability. Otherwise you would need an additional MIDI interface in order to use your keyboard for recording or triggering software based synthesizers.Audio Interfaces also provide software based mixers that you can use to adjust after the digital conversion has taken place — as opposed to a physical mixer which is actually adjust voltages prior to the signal being converted to digital form.In short — you need analog to digital conversion to happen before you can record. This can happen either in your sound card or in an externally connected audio interface.

You don’t need Rig Kontrol, but you do need some sort of computer audio interface that will bring your guitar signal up from instrument level to line level. It’s probably best to go with a USB one, because the line in jack on your computer is a piece of junk (unless you went out and bought a $500 sound card, which I doubt you did)You mention that you’re hooking your amp up to your computer… unless your amp has a dedicated “Line Out” jack, this won’t work. Also, when using Guitar Rig, you want a dry guitar signal… not an affected one (as your amp would output). The Stealthpedal is an excellent product, although you may just want to grab one of the specialty versions of Amplitube that comes with the Stealthcable (another cool product). Then you get the Amplitube software as well, which is awesome. IK makes good stuff.

$200 will not get you an interface with 4 simultaneous inputs. You’ll need to spend a bit more:http://www.zzounds.com/item–MDOFTULTRA
