The best mics on that price range is either AT2020 – I own one and I get mega-quality sounds with it. Amazon cut the price to $94 this time of the year (from $250)http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AS6OYC?ie=UTF8&tag=rp1-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001AS6OYCBehringer C-1U USB Studio Condenser Michttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QXCYZY?ie=UTF8&tag=rp1-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001QXCYZYIf you’re on a budget, buy the second one, since it costs $69, but if you have an extra $25 – choose AT2020

I have the M-Audio Producer USB microphone. If you are Upgrading from a PC mic then any of the mics you have list will be of great value to you. I chose the Producer USB mic because it has excellent quality for the price. It costs 100$ but sounds like a 200$ – 300$ mic. But I have a Semi pro studio and I have other equipment in the studio than improves the quality.

Hmmmm this is a tricky question…merely because without knowing WHAT and HOW you plan on recording with this microphone…does it enable one to give you a solid answer. If you plan on recording the human voice..weather speaking or singing…you wont want to stop at just a microphone. Make sure you have some sort of audio editing software as well…but as far as the microphone goes. I wouldn’t worry about a condenser Mic…you should be just fine with a dynamic mic…if you plan on spending the money for a condenser mic then you should also spend the dough for a 4 channel mixing board and connect that to your PC.USB mics are generally NOT going to give you the frequency response of a standard mic with an XLR connection. I use a Heil PR40 for my voice overs and such. Its a dynamic mic…pretty cost effective to boot!Buy Dynamic with an XLR connection…then get some sort of mixer to “condition” the signal before transferring to a USB connection….But that’s just me.

You should check out the AT2020 USB USB Cardioid Condenser Microphone made by Audio Technica. http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wired_mics/c75c5918ed57a8d0/index.htmlI recently bought this mic for recording the audio files to go with my class lectures and it works great. Easy to set up and works with most audio software applications.

  5. Mercuri says:

Depends on what kind of quality you’re looking for. If you just want something that works and don’t care about it being studio quality, you could just buy a Rock Band USB mic and plug that in. If you want absolute maximum quality, the mixer and XLR condenser mic is the way to go.

In my opinion buying a seperate interface and mic is a better idea, as you can often get a better deal. I would suggest checking out the SE2200a (there is a usb equivilent to this too for a bit more cash) – the sound quality is brilliant. For micstands get one with a boom arm, and tbh, if you get a decent condensor i recon you can get away with not using a pop sheild – trywithout and then see what you think.

  7. says:

You can film the video with the camera and record the sound to your computer with another mic and later replace the sound from the video with what you recorded with the separate mic.

  8. jmarie2186 says:

its decent i used it a couple times but i couldnt get it to record stereo. Maybe i had adobe audition setting wrong but its definitely very good for computer recording. And if you already have a regular microphone you can get a MXL USB Mic Mate. Allows regular mics to record on to computers also.

  9. Mark says:

I Dont Think so, Because its Universal Serial Bus (USB) Powered Not XLR Powered, So My answer is no phantom power required I think it works from your Computer’s Power.Hope this helped-Mark

It should be fine. Room acoustics will have a much larger effect than the type of microphone. You may want to modify the acoustics (to reduce reverberation, etc) by hanging sound-absorbing blankets, moving out noisy equipment, etc.Listen carefully to your recording, using headphones, to determine what is needed. See link below for some tips.
