Recording with M-Audio Preamp & Condenser Mic?
Hi, I'm having a little problem. I've just bought a Sterling Audio St55 large diaphragm mic, an M-Audio Fast Track Pro Preamp, and American Audio HP 700 studio headphones along with a shock mount & metal pop filter. My computer settings are: P4 3.0 ghz, 250g hard drive, 1 gb ram, and sound blaster audigy sound card. I am using pro tools m-powered for my recording software. I've had this equipment for about a week and I love the quality. The problem is that every time I record some vocals (or Mic Preamp even listen to use head phones to just listen to myself) I would occasionally get this weird static noise that totally messes up my sound that I'm hearing through my head phones. The worst part is that if this happens while I'm recording, then this weird noise is recorded into the recording as well. The noise can be described as a static noise that happens in a repetitive manner which results in the sound breaking out (like when talkin on a cell phone while signal is low). This really bothers me because I have good quality sound but it all gets destroyed with this noise, its frustrating. Now, could this be my preamp, my mic, my computer, sound card, headphones?????? What is it and how can I stop it???? Since I did put up a lot of money for this stuff, is this weird noise damaging my mic and/or preamp??? I would appreciate it if someone can help me. PS: If this helps, I have a 5 speaker with subwoofer computer speaker setup (extremely loud computer speakers) thats ALWAYS on.Thanks!!!The sound being is not coming out of the computer mics, only the studio headphones.
