Well this might be a stupid question but I am clueless about this stuff. My situation is I have an entertainer business, and I need my performers to be heard by everyone. Well I saw this "4 channel Wireless Lapel Microphone System" it has four little clip on microphones and a box, wich im guessing its the receiver. Lapel Microphone And I understand you need to connect this to something like a pc, karaoke machine, or amplifier. So i looked up amplifiers, and they also talk about channels. So Im wondering if I need a four channel amplifier? or what about the speakers? can I connect a speaker and the wireless microphone with the amplifier as well? are they all necessary? I know it probably sounds really confusing, but I dont know anything about this stuff. And I would appreciate it sooooo much if someone helps me with this. And if i got this concept down, can someone tell me how would I be able to have wireless microphones for up to 4 people, and have the sound come out of a speaker, oh, and I forgot to mention, I also put music up, so how would that work? connecting a stereo as well.....Thank you in advance! :)

by amplifier they dont mean car stereo the mean more like what an electric guitar plugs into. which doesnt involve channels just a microphone plug in.
There are two possibilities – the wireless beltpack may have a problem or the receiver has a problem. My first guess would be that the mic cable on the beltpack has gone bad – that is the usual problem with these things because that mic cable gets moved around and abused alot. I suspect it is a glitch in their “patrolling” software. It may work IF the camcorder is stereo. Most are only monophonic and the external jack only has a tip and a ring socket. A stereo mic has 3 contacts. In some cases, that is no real problem, except the only mic cartridge that will make contact is from the tip, so you will at least get mono sound.

If the wireless receiver combines all the mics to ONE output, all you need is a one input amp and speakers. The easiest way is to run a lapel mic directly (long wire not a problem as extension jumpers are available for that use) to the video camera’s external mic jack. That way the video and audio will both be recorded in real time and save a lot of extra equipment and editing later.
