pci and pci-e (express) are not compatible.
The PCI Slot is better, as it is usually faster than USB.
It cannot. It is only for connecting to a wireless router. The router is the key to that.
They’ll be the same – your download speed is the SLOWEST speed on the total link between your computer and the site you’re downloading from – which is seldom faster than about 0.8mbps these days.
Not the same–PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) is located on the motherboard of most desktops. You would need to open the desktop case to access these slots. Most desktops have empty (spare) PCI slots for things like TV tuner cards. Here’s a picture of a motherboard with a red circle around a pci slot:http://www.cheapcomputersandparts.com/Images/Parts/Motherboard-PCI-Slot.jpgPC card (short for PCMCIA, for Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) plugs into the side of many laptops ‘on the fly’–you can usually plug them in or remove them without shutting down the laptop. You can find a PCMCIA tv tuner card at Newegg.com here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=pcmcia+tv+tuner
Just have that card replaced because there is no adapter.Consider these:http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=319
You’ll have to configure that through BIOS
In and of itself, there’s absolutely no problem whatsoever with using Windows 98. The problem comes with driver support: anything you find on the market today isn’t going to have drivers for Windows 98, or is going to have crappy drivers (read: lots of Blue Screens). There are some cards out there (like the one in the first link below), but it’s really not the best idea to use a wireless card with Windows 98. Now this is entirely up to you and you can try your luck with the above wireless card, or others, but here’s what I recommend as your options: upgrade the OS to Windows 2000 (if that’s even possible and doesn’t break compatibility with your software); or buy yourself a second router and use it as a wireless bridge. Upgrading to Windows 2000 is pretty self explanatory: find/buy yourself a copy of Windows 2000 and get yourself a compatible card. Driver support is MUCH better for Windows 2000, even if it is 9 years old, and the drivers are substantially less likely to crash your system.Your other option is to get a second router, configure it as a wireless bridge and use it to your existing wireless network by using the wired port on your desktop. Detailed instructions can be found in the second link below.I think that about sums it up. Hope this helps and good luck
