I had to buy several items just to realize that Hop Drums was the best choice for the price all along. The only negatives I’ve found were that there are better units available, but they are more expensive and the reviews I found on them were on the negative side. So here’s my final word. I 100% endorse Hop Drums and will even show you some places to get it even cheaper than retail.

I dance and i want to play the drums. Will dancing help me play the drums Hop Drums at all?
I like pop, break dance, little bit of hip hop and a tiny bit of salsa. Will it help me with playing the drums?

If you are on a budget get #1 or #3:http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26redirect%3Dtrue%26ref%255F%3Dsr%255Fnr%255Fi%255F1%26keywords%3Dsongwriting%26qid%3D1248486994%26rh%3Di%253Asoftware%252Ck%253Asongwriting&tag=clogui-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957If you have the $$$ and are really serious about songwriting / composing, get #2.However, there is one program that is better than all of these. It’s really good, I’ve used it myself, it’s super affordable, costs like $49, check it out:http://tillicollapse.com/url/songwritingIf you have to choose one, get that one.

Most of the songs from The Roots, and Jay-Z has alot of instrumentals with real instruments instead of beats made on a computer.

This is a great idea, I would love to hear a more natural sounding hip hop album, but I’m not sure how successfully a current producer or rapper could pull it off. I find it refreshing when I hear this kind of thing, not that many producers do it.BQ: Very much so, there is very little variation and I doubt the majority of people here would know the difference between the drums. Most are becoming obsolete, at least in mainstream hip hop, variation would be nice. When you say organic you mean like the chopper in The Nang, the Front, the Bush and the Shit El-P used?

Its been that way since the nineties. Only then people just kept saying it was original by adding that extra beat. Back then vanila ice tried to say it; look at him now…….

MPC500 – cheap, on the go, and has most of the features of the higher-end models. It won’t break the bank to see if you like it like a 2000 or 3000 will. Audiolines has em for UNDER $500.

I don’t understand the question…From what I gathered, you need to know what to set your compressor at. As far as the ratio, I’m pretty firm with 4:1, but with attack and release you just have to fool around with it and find something you like. I usually increase the attack time until it loses punch, then take it back slowly until it sounds right. For release, I increase the time, and then slowly decrease it until the kick ends right as the next one begins, so there’s just a tiny “breath.”Hope that helps.

For those that don’t know…Drums are always on the hush because you can make a song…just off of Drums alone….So when you have a good thing like that then you would be better to keep it to yourself…A lot of drum programs will also give your drums some pizazz….you can turn a basic snare into your own creation….i suggest that if your interested you should look into those…Also…just trying out different kinds of drums in a drum shop helps….Personally i like percussion…but thats just me…They sample from everywhere…but a lot of greats have their own drum kits.
