Hip Hop is the baby of music. It has only existed since the 70’s, and has been given a bad name for most of those years.Musical legends of other genres are fairly easy to find. The Beatles, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, etc are artists your pretty much born knowing. Where as Chuck D, Ghostface, Rakim and Kool G Rap are artists you have to find on your own really. When people hear all of the one hit wonders on the radio, as well as all of the songs about sex, drugs, etc. They just say what the he’ll is this? It’s garbage. Which is partially their fault and partially the radios fault because they don’t look hard enough and the radio plays the gabage that they are mistakenly calling Hip Hop.Anyway, if you look at hip hop as a lifestyle, and consider the great, deep music an element of that lifestyle, then I rank it higher than all of the others genres, because it means more.As far as artists I’d rank with put there with other greats, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Rakim, Pos of De La Soul, and Ghostface Killah. As far as producers, The RZA, Preemo, Pete Rock, Marley Marl, and Dilla.I feel all of those artists had a role in making hip hop what it is today, and all of them are GOAT candidates, IMO.
NOOOOO NOOOO NOOOO! I hope this is not a serious question, but i think it is… Just by this few words on your screen makes it sound like you don’t even have one bad bone in your body yo! So quit frontin fo real! Do you even know what FUBU stands for? You will never be a gangster, just maybe a wannabe gangsta…. With or without that stuff real recognize real… You playin yoself son
theyre very similar, and depends which sort of scene your talking about, some are more girly than others, but theyre basically the exact same thing
Young Jeezy may rhyme with the complexity of a five year old and the voice of a 90 year old crackhead, but most of his songs have a strong appeal.

Yeah, I heard that too. I can’t remember the name because after the classical music part was over, I turned it off. That was the best part.
As a black woman, I feel that SOME hip hop music is degrading, disrespectful, and demoralizing to the Black Race. However, I do not think it is evil, nor should it be banned. Music is a form of self expression and let’s not forget the right to free speech. If this is how our young African Americans choose to express themselves, then so be it. It’s a way for many of them to get out of the ghetto and support their families. Hip Hop music has changed the lives of many people and provides jobs for a lot of people who may not have such an opportunity had it not been for Hip Hop music. I feel that there needs to be a wake up call, and Hip Hop music should be more about uplifting our people and doing positive things rather than glorifying sex, money, and drugs. There are very positive artists out there such as Common, The Roots, Nas, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli. Not every hip hop artist is like 50 Cent, Akon, or Ludacris. There are some out there who actually have something positive to say without desrespecting women. You have a choice not to listen to Hip Hop music, and that’s what you should do.
omg get them to break dance get a good beat and i immagine you proly know how to lol but get the school faculty to do a belly roll and how do you say it oh yea tootsie roll lol and pop lock and drop em hahah
Find someone in the class who can break down some steps for you. I’ve never met a hip hop dancer who didn’t want to help me learn what they do. And practice with them whenever possible. If the teacher ever breaks down any steps and teaches how to do it such as pops or the moonwalk for example, practice what she shows you every day for a certain amount of time. Also if she does any warm up routines that involve things like body isolations, practice those on your own at home daily as well. There are lots and lots of how to videos on youtube.com that I used for inspiration when I started doing hip hop a few years ago. Do searches for “how to pop and lock”, “how to glide”, etc.And besides practice and practice and practice, just don’t quit! You will alwasy feel awkward until you’ve learned the steps and feel confident about it, so just accept that you’ll look goofy while you’re learning and practicing, its ok, its part of the learning process! If this teacher doesn’t teach you much, you will still learn by being exposed to the dances, and you might want to seek out a better teacher for your next class. Good luck and congrats on starting to learn hip hop!!
I like what u said it was deep. And I agree, Hip Hop is a way of life. Nice message! Thanks 4 tha insight!
Digital UndergroundI remember I posted a detailed question on them and hardly anybody answered it.Here it is:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsGPpniPtPSdCQclPd.CvSHty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090930191152AADKpGc
random guy 77, you are off to an excellent start by realizing you have choices. To avoid making a fool of myself I always tried out my dancing in front of a full length mirror. DVD’s are a great place to look for style and function in the privacy of your home. If you live in a large city go and watch the street talent and try to emulate their movements. Be original though and throw in something that only you have dreamed up and sets you apart from the crowd! It sounds like you have talent it is just the execution of the moves that you need help. You would be surprised to know that dance studios give you some building blocks of maneuvers that will catapult your talent. When you get the moves down just practice, practice, practice,,and you will be a very popular, envied talent that other people will try to pattern after. Many people do not give credit to the fantastic athlete who has the moxie to perform Hip Hop – it is very complicated. Ask DVD rental employees what movies have good Hip Hop dance in them because the news travels fast when a good movie includes magnificent performances of Hip Hop! Hey when you become the next uber Hip Hop performer please reserve me an autograph.
My eyes get blurry tryna read that =/x
oh please all of you need a little education, it is so much more than that. You need to dig deeper to get into the roots of hip hop / rap to understand what its all about. It was never about the crap it has transformed into.Rap was about telling a story and educating each other, it was about having a good time and celebrating individuality. It wasn’t about calling women hoes, guys nig**rs, and bringing anybody down.It has been castrated and mutated into a social and economic form of pop music. In the beginning it was designed to lift the spirits and moral of people in the neighborhood now it has turned into a way to suppress them. What you categorize, today, as rap is nothing more than twisted pop music crap.If you do this project, I hope you uncover the true meaning of rap and dig deep to uncover its true virtue. I really hope you do and maybe can make someone understand.
