Most PC’s use a stereo mini phone jack (mini, also known as 1/8″ or 3.5mm). So you need a breakout cable that has a stereo mini plug on one end, and separate red/white RCA plugs (also known as phono) on the other end.Jacks are female, plugs are male, You need the cable to have males at both ends. Radio Shack will have what you need, but very likely so does Best Buy or Walmart. It should cost under $5 even for a 6′, so don’t let anyone talk you into those stupid gold-plated, corrosion-resistant, frequency-tuned, IEEE rated, blah blah expensive ones. They don’t do a thing except cost more.

I believe you need an RF Modulatorhttp://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103095…. and I wish the Official Xbox 360 expert should take off that stupid code thing on their source… they dont work!!

  3. Stephen P says:

There are two types of “converter boxes”.Coupon type converter boxes only work antenna signals (ATSC). No major cable system uses this type of signal. These are the kind of converter boxes that have been getting all the press. But…..Some cable companies have cable boxes that they call “converter boxes”. As are as I know, these only have non-HD outputs and can only receive “open” QAM digital signals. Unfortunately, cable companies call them converter boxes which confuses a lot of people. Usually these are provided by the cable company. But most new TVs and some recorders also have QAM tuners which make the converter box unnecessary. There are some newer non-coupon converter boxes coming out that include both ATSC (antenna) and open “QAM” (cable) tuners. Cable companies can and will discontinue analog TV service when ever they want. Their cable “converter boxes” allow people with older “analog only” TVs to keep using their service.

  4. Paul says:

The converter is only there to convert from analog-to-digital. If you have been getting picture this whole time and now the clarity is bad that I would have the signal being sent to your home reset. This should resolve the issues.Hope this helps.

  7. Jerry says:

NO – They are NOT the same and a digital TV box will NOT work on a cable system. A digital TV converter box acts as a TV tuner it takes the Digital Off Air TV Channel and converts the signal to analog so a non digital TV can display the picture.A cable converter box is provided by the cable company. The box must be authorized by the cable system for it to work. It has two functions. It also acts as a TV tuner but..1. It takes the signal sent out buy the cable system on the cable wire and maps it to a TV channel for viewing. It displays what the channel is and sends the picture to the TV set for you to watch. 2. It takes the scrambled cable TV signal and unscrambles it so you can watch that channel. The box is authorized by the cable system as to which channels it is allow to display a picture on.A cable converter box might also contain a digital video recorder (DVR) so you can record a TV show.

  8. R T says:

Nope. If the converter box has a s-video connection, it’s an outty, not an innie . . .

  9. aviatingamateur says:

That will NEVER work. Don’t even think it.The VGA port on your laptop is built to SEND OUT video signals only. It cannot RECEIVE.And in any case, standard HDMI is NOT compatible with VGA.Those HDMI-VGA cables are intended for video cards that have a specially-built HDMI port capable of sending out an analog VGA signal. It will NOT work with a standard HDMI port. And the XBox’s HDMI port is NOT one of those specially-built ones– It’s a standard HDMI port that sends out only digital video signals.

  10. RAS says:

Keyboards form part of the user interface and a keyboard problem can be very annoying. Sometimes the keyboard drivers can get corrupted. Some of the problems can be fixed . I have found the details given at http://fixit.in/keyboard.html is more useful. Try here, if you can what you are searching for…!

  11. RANGARAJAN S says:

You can try this product:Apple White Dock Connector to FireWire & USB 2.0 CableIts available in Amazon.com at a price of around 20 US $.All the best!!!

  12. Italian Guy says:

No. A digital-to-analog converter box will allow you to continue using your existing analog TV to watch over-the-air digital broadcasts. You do not need to get rid of your existing analog TV. In addition, analog sets should continue to work as before if connected to a subscription service such as cable or satellite TV.YES you can buy own box instead or renting one from the company

  13. link says:

No. The converter box is only for receiving DTV signals over-the-air, with an antenna. Analog cable systems transmit analog TV signals (duh) and will continue to do so after the digital transition is completed in June. Your converter box won’t do a thing when hooked up to analog cable.

  14. juliepoo619 says:

That’s because you haven’t provided sufficient information to get a satisfactory answer. The way your question reads, all you have to do is disconnect the cable from the converter box, then you will see…………………………………………….. that you have no picture because you have no signal. You need an antenna or something to pull in any signals

  15. Stephen M says:

Depends how far you are away from the broadcast tower and how good of antenna system you have. Here is the place to figure that out.http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

  16. gkk_72 says:

Why would you want to do that? It won’t make the picture any better and the scalers cost just as much as a new monitor.http://www.gefen.com/gefentv/gtvproduct.jsp?prod_id=5281ok found you a cheaper one…http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/33-10720&CAWELAID=293709404

  17. Stephen M says:

Well, it is impossible to say for sure how to connect things, since you gave us absolutely no details here.the converter box should have an antenna connection on it. It needs an antenna of some sort, or you will get no signal at all. Then it should have another coaxial connection that runs to the antenna connection on your TV.

  18. TV guy says:

If you meed HDMI to VGA, that’s impossible. A real converter will cost more than buying a new small LCD monitor or TV!

  19. R T says:

Missing channels or erratic operation are almost always because of a poor signal. First, I would try re-aiming your antenna toward the transmitters. If the transmitters are more than about 5 miles away, an indoor antenna may not work reliably. In that case you will need a better antenna. The proper antenna for you depends on how strong the signals are at your house.Visit http://www.antennaweb.org . The site will help you aim your antenna and will suggest the proper antenna for your situation if you need to upgrade.
