I cannot tell you how happy I am with my Cable Converter. Man, this thing is getting better and better as I learn more about it.
I have a tv, vcr, and digital cable converter. How do I set them up to tape a channel while watching another?
I already have a cable splitter & the necessary cables, but cannot figure out how to set it up to tape one channel while watching another. My cable company, of course, is no help whatsoever.

No, the air converter wasn’t designed for cable use. You need to get a box from your cable company.
Why would you want to do that? It won’t make the picture any better and the scalers cost just as much as a new monitor.http://www.gefen.com/gefentv/gtvproduct.jsp?prod_id=5281ok found you a cheaper one…http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/33-10720&CAWELAID=293709404
The small port is an RJ11 telephone jack. It goes from the telephone jack to the RJ11 jack on the Modem. The ethernet port is RJ45 and goes from the ethernet port on the modem to [either the ethernet port on your PC or to the ethernet port on your router].No conversion should be done between the modems telephone jack and the ethernet at all.

tyler is right. But I have a question about the TV you are using. Does it have built in HD tuners? if it does it may have a QAM (cable digital) and ATSC (over the air digital) tuner as well as the old NTSC (analog tuner). The reason I ask is the QAM is a hd tuner that works with most cable companies. If it was me then I would hook the cable directly to the tv (take the box out of the loop temporarily) then auto-program the cable setting under channels in your menu. Then see if you don’t have free digital channels (SDTV) already. If you do, then install a splitter so you can hook up the cable box too. Then output the box through three RCA jacks to video input 1 on your tv. Then you still have all the benefits of the box, like on demand, tv guide and program information by putting the tv in video 1. Once you decide what to watch you simply fine the digital channel from your tuner. This may also allow you to use the PIP and watch two channels at once. This will not add any channels to your lousy line up, but the reception should be clearer, and the local channels may be there without using an antenna and they may be HDTV, not just SDTV
It is a Programmable Converter Box… and it depends on whether it’s a Low Def or Hi Def converter box as to whether it does DTV signals or not….ONLY the HDTV cable box will do DIGITAL TV signals…in HD that is..The SD boxes will do some Digital, but NOT in HD.The nice thing is, YOU don’t have to worry about your cable setup….You lose your picture, YOU call them, they come out…They get your picture back…When you want to go HD, you get an HDTV set….Until then, enjoy cable…..
they sell video card for PCs…i have one for my computer, as its in my room i mine as well only have one screen in there instead of two. it has the cable input, RCA, and even comes with a remote. newegg.com had it fro $20. works great for the price. it also allows me to shut down my PC right from my bed so i ddon’thave to get up and turn it off. good luck
well it is not exactly pointless..u can keep the converter box and keep your horrible reception….or get the basic cable and have a television u can actually watch……basic cable is just a antenna for your television…no bells no whistles
