A patch cable passes the signal through so that it comes out the other end in the same order it entered.1>……………………………<12>……………………………<23>———————————<34>……………………………<45>……………………………<5With a "cross over", the wires "cross" so the signal comes out in reverse order1>…………………………….<52>…………………………….<43>———————————-<34>…………………………….<25>…………………………….<1
If you don’t have a crossover cable, you’ll need to connect them to a switch or router and assign them ip’s within the same range, say 192.0.0.1 and 192.0.0.2, set the workgroup name the same on both pc’s and they will see each other in their lan network, then just share a folder to move your files.
Over and under. It’s a coil, but every other loop gets folded under. It keeps cables from getting kinked and knotted.
They make 8 pin couplers, both female jacks in a small plastic holder. Just make sure it has all 8 pins in it (not 6 like phone couplers), and see that it is CAT5 compatible. With that, you just plug two regular cables together to extend the distance. However, it is always better to use one continuous cable if possible….
The difference between a crossover cable and a patch/straight-thru cable is the orientation of the cables inside the cable. If it is a consumer grade router(i.e. linksys, belkin, etc.) then you can use a patch cable to connect to one of the lan ports.
Maybe its just your imagination or the wire is loose.
yep pretty much you can do that too.
Compatibility? How old is your desktop?
I presume this is a wall plate or similar device. If you are connecting both ends to the face plate, it is pretty simple. Note that they are marked with the A and the B standard. You can use either A or B provided you use the same on both ends. If you do not use the same on both ends, you will have a problem.Different makers have different ways to connect. Some use a punch down tool just like you do with a patch panel. If so, you should use the punch down tool. Some require you thread the wires through and crimp a cover piece down. Check the maker’s web site for specifics as they vary widely. Now if you have a standard RJ45 on one end and are not sure if it is A or B style, here is the answer:Pin # A color B color1 org white green white2 orange green3 green white org white4 blue blue5 blue white blue white6 green orange7 brown white brown white8 brown brown
They serve the same function. A ‘normal’ CAT5 cable usually refers to cable with a tougher, less flexible core used for permenent wiring inside walls to go to sockets.Patch cables are shorter, more flexible cables that you use for everything else.In short, the Patch cable is actually what you want.
im fairly certain xboxs have an auto sensing cross over which means that it will work with a regular patch like the one that came with the console but not for certain
