Sorry, the MIDI cable does not carry the analog sound from the guitar. MIDI is a control signal to send information from one piece of musical equipment to another. If your computer has a “line in” (usually the blue connector) you may be able to plug the guitar in there. You will need an adapter to do that. You are going to be much better off just buying a cheap guitar amp though:http://www.zzounds.com/item–BEHGM108
MIDI does not pass audio. That’s one of the biggest misconceptions about it.What it does pass is commands that tell synthesizers (physical or virtual) what notes to play when, volume, and program changes. There’s also a Show Control protocol defined for controlling curtains, lasers, pyro, etc. But, it does not pass audio. Unless your guitar has a synth pickup on it, a USB to MIDI cable will do nothing for you.Greetings from Austin, TXKen
use the usb for your computer and what software are you running?
You obviously have no clue what MIDI is.You don’t connect a MIDI guitar to a guitar amp, you connect it to a MIDI processor. Most “MIDI” guitars don’t actually produce MIDI data. They have a special pickup that generates a separate signal for each string. That signal is then converted into MIDI data by a special unit, like the Roland GR-20.In order to make your guitar MIDI capable, you will need a system like the Roland. They cost around $700. So you would run a cable from your guitar, to the converter, and THEN to the MIDI Pro Adapter… and that’s not even guaranteed to work!Even if you bought a guitar marketed as a “MIDI” guitar, most of them are simply “Roland ready” and don’t actually generate MIDI data. These will easily run you $600 or more, and you would still need the Roland converter unit.Basically, the Squier guitar is going to be a phenomenal bargain, and at present it’s the only way that’s guaranteed to work (other than the Mad Catz Pro Guitar, which is a piece of crap).
Have you tried any B2B website?I would suggest you check from:
The Yamaha UX-16 is listed as an accessory in the PSR-E213 manual so I would expect it to work fine. Since the PSR has standard MIDI In and Out ports you should be able to use any USB -> MIDI interface. There are several listed at Musicians Friend Dot Com including the UX-16:http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/navigation/midi-interfaces?N=100001+338032&Ntk=All&Ntt=usb+midi&Nty=1
You should be able to get a MIDI cable from Radio Shack or any local music shop. There is no need for a special type. However, if you’re connecting to a computer, a MIDI to USB cable is easier to use. And no, it doesn’t have to be the one from Alesis. Fruityloops (now called FL Studio) should work just fine.
You got it! Plus, you need to read page E-9 and E-10 of the CDP-100 User Manual.http://support.casio.com/pdf/008/CDP100_e.pdf
I’m guessing that you’re looking for MIDI to USB. There are quite a few of these interfaces available. A great place to find them is sweetwater. Start by checking out something like the MIDISport 1×1.
yes, it should work. if you are using really old software on your computer (and I mean really old) it may not, but the usb cable has both the interface and cable built-in.
MIDI is an industry standard, allowing data transmission between all brands of synthesizer/keyboard. Any MIDI cable will work. You don’t need a specific kind. However, if you plan to connect your keyboard to your computer via MIDI, you might want to get a MIDI to USB cable. They are so much less of a hassle.
Yes you hit the nail on the head, you can do anything you want to produce sound.
