cables I have reviewed Speakon Speaker so you do not have to!

Overall, the Speakon Speaker was great, and I have no problem recommending Speakon Speaker for anyone wanting one. LOVE THIS Speakon Speaker

Will the use of a Speakon male to 1/4" female adapter affect sound quality?
I recently bought professional grade speakers and a power amplifier. Everything matches up (ohms and watts) Since I didn't have a 1/4 in. cable with a speakon end, I decided to buy 2 speakon adapters so that I could hook up both the left and right channels to the amplifier while still using Speakon Speaker a 1/4" cable. The problem is that there is a huge mid range coming out of the speakers which is overwhelming. I have to turn the mid range on my computer down to about 7 o'clock for everything coming through the speakers to be balanced. Is there a way to remedy this? Is the problem with the adapters? Could all of this just be because I bought a pair of shoddy speakers. If the speakers are normal unpowered speakers with no amp built in, you cannot connect them directly to a normal unpowered mixer with no amp built in. If your mixer is powered, you can connect unpowered speakers to it because a powered mixer has an amp built in.Th bottom line is that you need an amp somewhere – some are separate units – some are built into the mixer – some are built into the speakers. If you state the exact make and model of your mixer and speakers (speakon PPH1293 is not valid), I can help more.

Yes, that amp will work fine.

well i would guess they are all 4 ohm speakers.run 2 in series amp+(+-)(+-)amp- it makes it 2 ohm don’t run it like that (the resistance could be to low and burn your amp up) then you wire the other 2 off of the 1st 2 by wiringsame way with the first and last connection of the speakersto bring the resistance back to normalyou can find the mapping at (just12volt .com) in yoshi’s tipssorry its hard to explain in text good luck.

Definitely go with the Speakon. It was designed from the ground up to be a speaker connector. The 1/4 inch connector is a very old design and was never meant for speaker level voltage and current. The speakon will never pull out, has low contact resistance, no soldering needed, accepts large gauge wire, super durable (need I go on?). Plus you’ll look more professional.

  5. Daniel K says:

Your speakon adapter is not the problem – it will not change the sound at all. What is the make and model of the speaker and amp? PA speakers tend to have a lot of midrange to project the sound. You have done the right thing by turning the midrange down.

You don’t want to send the lows to your JRX115s if you’re using a subwoofer, or two subwoofers. It causes cancellation problems which makes your bass sound quieter. You want the lows going to your sub, or subs & the highs going to your JRX115 speakers.I posted your question here.http://www.djforums.com/showthread.php?p=1070444#post1070444post1070444″He can use a crossover or get a 5.1 soundcard, which has a crossover built in.”- Bill Fitzmaurice http://billfitzmaurice.com

What make/model speakers and receiver are you using? The best advice I can give without knowing the actual hardware you are using is to make sure the impedance of the receiver and speakers match (8 ohms to 8 ohms, 4 ohms to 4 ohms etc), and make sure the speakers are powerful enough to handle the receiver (speakers should be able to handle more power than the receiver can dish out). Other than that you should be fine.

If you don’t already have it, download the manual for your amp from the Behringer website:http://www.behringerdownload.de/BX4410_BX4410A/BX4410_BX4410A_ENG_Rev_B.pdfFrom what I gather from the manual, adding external speakers to the amp will not disconnect the internal speakers. Neutric Speakon connectors do not have a “disconnect” function built into them, so you should be safe using that. Just make sure that the external cabinet you’re going to hook up is not less than 4 ohms impedance.Good luck.Greetings from Austin, TXKen

Zeke – I found your speakers on ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com.au/2-x-BRAND-NEW-12-600W-DAYTON-QUALITY-PA-DJ-SPEAKERS_W0QQitemZ270399661372QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_DJ_Gear_Lighting_Equipment?hash=item3ef513653c&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50Those are unpowered, DJ speakers. You cannot connect those speakers directly to the Tascam interface. You would need an amplifier. The interface outputs would connect to the amp inputs and the amps speaker outputs would connect to the speakers. Here is a great power amp for not much money that would work for your setup:http://www.samedaymusic.com/product–BEHA500

  11. bbt91945 says:

Yes, this amp can power the sub woofer. This looks like a system for a car audio.

  12. Robert says:

First, and most importantly, those are not “home speaker” as stated in your question. Those are PA speakers. It says it right in the description. If you are unsure what PA speakers are, they are the type of speakers used for live sound with bands and such. But be warned, Pyle makes some terrible PA speakers. If this is still the type of speaker you are looking for, here is a reasonably priced amplifier that will run these speakers. Of course it’s a rack mount style amplifier, but that’s pretty much all you will find when looking for PA equipment. You will not want to use a home amplifier for these.http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Crown-XLS-602D-Power-Amplifier?sku=481586

  13. Vinnyz says:

it depends, some speakon cables are used only to power speakers up, and some speakon cables are used to power and to give sound to the speaker in the one cable, xlr cables are also used to give sound to the speakers if your talking about club, bar or stage speakers!!

  14. Daniel K says:

Zeke – It would help if you let us know the make and model of the amp and speakers.Anyway, you will not damage the speakers unless you crank up the volume of the amp. If you play the system at reasonable volumes, you should be OK.Yes, you can run the wire from one channel on the amp and feed two speakers as you described as long as the impedance af the two speakers combined is not too low for the amp. Two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel is 4 ohms – two 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel is 2 ohms. I assume that is a stereo amp with two channels? If it is, you should connect one speaker to each channel.

  15. Jimmy J says:

have some1 proffessional do this don’t risk messing the wiring up.
