Can a notebook cooling fan be used on a netbook?
I have the Acer Aspire 1 netbook. It goes a little hot under the case. I just purchased Cooling Fan a notebook cooling fan with USB. Can it be used on the netbook? Is the power supply capable handling the extra wattage? Please let me know so I can make a decision whether to return the purchase of the fan or keep it. Thank you very much for your response.Mel T.

Try Eautorepair for online access to repair manual info10.00/week or 29.00/year or alldata.com 25.00/year On most cars, the cooling fans will stay on for a brief period after you shut off the car to help cool the engine off but they should not stay on long enough to drain your battery unless you have a very weak battery to begin with. Not sure what the max time limit is but a service manual will help you diagnose the problem be it a relay, sensor, timer or computer. Cheap way may be to just wire an on/off switch on the dash in the circuit and just remember to turn it off when you leave the car and back on when you start. Hope this helps, Paul

I don’t know how, but i know WHY you shouldn’t lower the fan speed.the CPU works way better and faster when it’s cold than when it’s hot. What you got there is a very good Fan and i wouldn’t suggest you mess with it.

  3. OF THE DARK FOREST says:

You need to remove heat from the laptop, since most laptops use the shell for heat dissipating.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834998051

  4. bob the mechanic says:

this is standard on all fwd gm’s. 212 degrees F.

  5. WAYNE T says:

Call a repair shop Cause if you have to ask here even if someone told you how to replace it it is not an easy job It has burned out and needs replacing

  6. bandit_60 says:

make a bracket for it to tighten it up. about the only way it can make it leak is if the fan is banging on the radiator fins.

  7. Ignorance Is Bliss says:

that your pc is hot. i had the same, loud fans? it was just because my pc is by my radiator.Im sure a new fan and thermal compound wouldnt hurt though :)

  8. G L says:

Ignorance is often a result of not asking questions; lack of wondering. To learn from what you ask is the next step. :) Adding more hardware does not necessarily mean more fans are required.Questions to ask yourself:Does the new hardware produce heat? How much? How often?(An idle cd/dvd drive does not, whereas a spinning hdd will. A sound card gives off a little heat, whereas a video card produces a lot, etc..) Place a heat exhaust fan next to your video card to remove the heat directly. Thermaltake makes a good/quiet video card fan.Where is the device(s) located? Does your computer case get hot?In essence, the key is circulation. More fans does not always mean more circulation. Have a good path for cool air to enter and exit.

  9. Jeremy M says:

Put it on a lift. Then the wheels can turn at 70 mph without the car moving.

  10. David B says:

There is a temperature activated switch that tells the fan when to turn on and off based on coolant temperature. It sounds like the switch is stuck in the “on” position. Easy to replace.

  11. DrDontheTermiteGuy says:

I used a second fan from an old power supply screwed to the grill at the rear of the box. You can either use a spare power cable or use a piggyback plug, just check you have the right voltage. Make it an exhaust fan so it doesn’t muck up the other fans’ airflows.Do you really need one? It may be that opening the case and clearing out the dust buildup is enough. Remember you are adding more noise and a greater current drain, so don’t do it without good cause. This is especially true if you have a clear case and want a fan with lots of LED lights . . . that’s just tacky!

  12. Arlhey says:

put a bigger fan right next to it and set it on blast, the suction of the bigger fan should make the fan inside the xbox spin

  13. TwoStep says:

It is extremely necessary. It wont overheat on the highway b/c enough air is is flowing over the radiator. But in stop and go traffic there is no air flow hence no cooling. Every part on an automobile is designed and engineered to do a specific task. Altering these designs changes the characteristics of the performance.

  14. Sweet Pea says:

contact a refrigerator tech to repair it or go to a appliance store and ask someone there.

  15. John M says:

the one in the radiator might be what your looking for. there may be another near the thermostat housing, I believe it is just under the coolant fill cap on the passenger side of v-6 models.

  16. It's Kyle! says:

Cooling fans don’t actually work. The system was designed to stay cool without the aid of an external device. In fact, most (if not all) cooling fans are after market products that will void your warranty. If you’re worried about your system getting hot, just give it some breathing room (6″/10cm on each side) or stop playing every hour or two for fifteen minutes.

  17. garethowilliams says:

Locate the fan code, serialnumber and manufacturer. Phone them and ask if they manufacture a fan silencer for that unit. Fan silencers can reduce output noise for a supply fanusually up to 25%. Aside from that you could try to get a acoustic box ventilator fitted externally on the fan and this would help reduce noise but not as much as the silencer. hope this helps.
