I hope you find these listings helpful. If you are like me, you need a little bit on information before making a buying decision. Here’s a description of Channel Stereo for you.
How do I get my Yamaha receiver to function in 6 channel mode, not just stereo mode? It's model HTR-5660.
This receiver has been hooked up and Channel Stereo functioned well in 6 channel mode, but somewhere along the line it now only functions in stereo mode. It tests fine for all 6 channels, but I can't find the magic button for it to play in all 6 channels. I've checked the owner's manual and can't find the problem.... Help!!

Yes. As long as your powered subwoofer has “speaker level” inputs and the speakers on channel A are the correct impedance.
I’d suggest using the “search” option vs. the preset. It’s usually the same option that changes tracks in the cd mode.
It depend on the speakers and how loud you run the audio. Chances are good you will very quickly overdrive the the 80 amp and the sound coming out of the speakers will be terrible. If you are trying to make a dance/DJ PA, yu will need a lot more power from the amps… and good speakers. My Haffler amp does 1500 watts and comfortably drives a couple of community mains and a separate 400 watt amp drives a subwoofer (with an active crossover/processor inbetween). If you get powered speakers (like those from Mackie) you might be able to limit the power used by your stereo because the Mackie speaker built-in amps will do the heavy lifting. Your stereo can be set to a level where it starts clipping – then pull it down about 20% – that will be a portion of your “headroom” the rest of the power will come from the powered amps built-in to the speakers… and you will have lots of headroom with them…
the spellings?
4 channel is what you want. tweeters do not have there own channels they connect to front left and front right with the front door speakers. 6 channels is for dvd playing stereos. the extra 2 channels are the sub channel and the center channel
Try Audacity.I don’t have a file that has your problem but it’s worth a try and won’t cost anything but time.Modus operandi:Go to “file/open” and choose song. Then “project/new stereo track” Creates new blank track.Highlight whole of song by clicking/holding/dragging.Go to “edit/copy”Click on new blank track to place cursor line (position not critical)Go to “edit/paste”. Duplicates original track.Pan tracks left and right. (L & R with slider at the left of the track)Then hit the play button to see if it works. If it comes out both channels it worked! If the original file is mono the sound will be centralized (i.e. from both speakers) but not stereo. The audio is duplicated not converted.Sounds complicated but worth a try if it gets the result.http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
