Ok, let’s first start with a review:

I’ve been researching Audio Power for a long time. Chances are you have too. If so, then rest assured that the prices I’ve found for Audio Power and listed on this site are the best online.

Here are the top picks on for Audio Power:

Does anyone know the P/S used at electronic stores for car audio power conversion?
That little car audio Audio Power room in Circuit City, does anyone know the power supply they use to change the 120v alternating current to 12v Direct current, I know it involves a converter, but I would like specifics. Thanks

you must use the right file and compatible file extension

Hi,I think this amp would go much harder than what you have at the moment (link at bottom of page). You will get 160 watts per sub. I have never heard or experienced anything but excellent reports from jaycar gear, and it seems this amp can handle 4 ohm loads which is what you need for car subs (just don’t wire them in series or you’ll have problems). anyway it’s not cheap, but if you want something that won’t stuff up and deliver I highly recommend something like this. (just be wary of cheaper home theatre amps as they are designed to run 8 ohm loads usually).http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0478&CATID=15&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=443

sounds like it would work fine. Just bridge each sub on two channels and turn the low pass crossovers on (if it has them).

  4. Nigel Shiftright says:

Yes there is. Go to Partsexpress.com and look for Home Audio Sub amps. These are the plate amps that you see on the back side of mass market subwoofers.

  5. Larry<--- says:

There are many sites that list schematics for high power amps (check google), and can be modified for more power. But it will be cheaper to buy one already made than to buy all the components and build it yourself.

This program is a true monster! It comes with audio filled with information, study guides, and an online system thats divided into 48 weeks (4 years). You should definately at least give it a TRY, if you don’t like it theres a money-back guarantee. You’ll thank me later ^_^Here’s the link below:http://www.mpowerseries.com/go/LewisJ?tid=mpower

look at the kits available from jaycar or tandy or dick smith .To build your own from scratch requires very good electronics skills. Search everyday electronics and silicon chip magazines as I know they both had quite good circuits for power amps, that a diy could build.

You can use a RCA to BNC convertor. Once you have this plug, you will only use the RCA video line to the BNC. I know that Radio Shack used to have these plugs, but not sure if they still do. If not, try your local security shop or surveillance company as they would have these plugs.

  10. ~SNOWFLAKE~ says:

that will be all you need but you could get a bigger amp just in case you do decide to get another sub ,, as for the wiring if you install it your self all you need is a good amp kit 1000watt so you get all 4 gauge wire this will lessen the need for a cap or 2 alt , with is not necessary unless pushing more than 1500watts rms

Try on the maxima forum there is a section for the I30 http://www.maximaclub.org/http://forums.nicoclub.com/zeroforum?id=83http://www.maximasdownunder.org/A few to look at,as we know the I30 is the foreign Maxima,so by looking at these forums its own sections and being in other countries its the same car although named Maxima. We can give you a list of mods to increase speed which is standard modding but your best asking on the forum for which they advise to be the best parts to use and waht not to use.As i can say induction kit they you will have to hunt for which one,at least on a forum someone will know which one and the same with other parts also. Also look at yahoo Japan etc,you get some great sites from owners to sellers to look at what they have to offer.an example which i loved was the older 130/cefiro/qx/a32 kit which i wanted when i had mine.http://www.impul.co.jp/products/complete/A32_CEFIRO/A32_1f.JPG

man if you got the money there isnt such a thing as too much. i mean obviously over 15000 watts is a lil intense but some people want it. if you have no limit on money go really big. i can tell you right now that sony anything sucks. if you think that is hitting really hard then you’ve never heard a real loud system. go out and buy some solo x 12’s and fully power them with 5000 watts rms and then tell me bout your sony xplodes. but if you dont want to be upgrading the alternator and the battery and stuff like that and just want to stick with just buying subs and an amp…stay under 900 watts rms just to be safe. its said if you go over your gonna need to be upgrading wires and electrical stuff so it all depends on your pocket book

  13. RPM says:

There is no inexpensive way to do it. It would be cheaper to buy a plate amp (from Parts Express or Elemental Designs) to run the subs than it would to buy a DC power supply to run a high-powered car audio amp.

  14. guy says:

If your subs are passive (don’t have a power amp built in) you’ll need an amplifier rated at the same impediance (usually 4 ohms) as the subs and power (watts) of the subs. You don’t want to send the full range of frequencies to the subs as it will distort the cone (music is usually 20,000 hertz to 20 hertz, 20 hertz being the low or bass, 20,000 hertz the highs. these are also refered to as 20k to 20 hertz). subs will want to hear around 200 – 20 hertz.Anyway, to filter out the high frequencies you’ll need a “crossover.” These can be active (powered) or passive and all they do is take the audio output and seperate it into highs and lows so that the high frequency signals can go to your regular speakers (they require less power) and the subs or bass speakers which are larger and require more power (bigger amps/more wattage) to move the cones. This is called biamping and is used to improve overall sound quality and efficiency. Crossovers usually have an adjustment to set the crossover point (the cut off point at which the device sends either the highs thru mids to the standard speakers and the low frequencies to the subs). see the referred wiki Now it’s possible that your subs have filters in them already and that you can send them the full range of frequencies without damaging them. It’s also possible that they’re powered sub speakers, meaning they already have amplifiers built in (but being car speakers they’ll want 12volts dc instead of 110volts ac). (no worries, you can buy 12 volt power adapters/inverters, but make sure they’re rated to handle the load-current requirements)Lastly your home stereo has a switching circuit that allows you to switch between radio. cd, tape, aux, and (gasp) phonograph and sends the appropriatly selected signal to it’s internal amplifier. You can’t send speaker out of your home system to another amplifier (your new sub amp). The new amp will have way to much signal input and distort if not distroy anything hooked up to it due to “gain mismatch”. You have to send “line level” to the new amp. Not to worry, this can usually be gotten by using the tape output (usually a set of rca jacks) to the input of the bass amp. The tape output is used to send signal to a tape deck and mirrors whatever output going to the speaker outputs but at line level.one caveat, some subs have a built in circuit that allows you to hook up the left and right speaker outputs from your car stereo, and then does all the processing/seperating in the sub and has a seperate out put that you then hook your remaining speaker to.Without knowing brands and models, I can’t give you specific instructions only general information. go forth and rock

  15. Endeavor says:

check the quality of the battery, the alternator, etc… if that checks out fine consider leaving the vehicle running when the audio system is on. next line of defense could be a farad cap (which stores battery power until the bass hits hard) or I belive it’s called a battery buddy that will cut off power to the amp(s) when the battery has just enough power to start the engine. Hope it helps:-)

  16. dragon breath says:

swiss audio and performance teknique are both low end ‘flea market’ brands that do not make rated power. their is no clear choice of which is better. if you are looking to buy the swiss audio as a upgrade, save your money.
