We should be very thankful that we are born in this modern generation because of the existence of the Internet. With the Internet, every information (whether about Pre Amp) or any other Pre Amp can be found with ease on the Internet, with great articles like this.

ok so what the difference between a pre amp and an audio interface?
if i need a multi-channel pre amp for all Pre Amp the instruments and vocals cant i just use that as my audio interface? idk exactly what the difference is and why do you need multiple tracks to go to your computer? cant they all just be recorded as one strand of data?

In an older, more audiophile stereo system, the functions of a stereo receiver can be split into three separate components. Those functions are, tuner (Radio station tuning), pre amp, which does the switching between input sources and any modification of sound (Bass, treble, etc.) and any selection of outputs, such as how many and which speakers to run, and the power amp literally amplifies the sound from the various inputs, to a point where the speakers can then do their jobs. My main sound system has a Sansui tuner, a Carver pre amp, and a Hafler power amp. Now, there are also integrated amps. Thats where you have a power amp and a pre amp as one unit. They only lack a tuner, compared to a receiver. The utility of such splitting up of functions includes that one can select from different capabilities, and not have to take the mix that makes up any stereo receiver. So, one can have a very capable pre amp, and a not so powerful power amp. Or, vice versa.

It depends on:A. How much gear do you want to haul aroundB. What kind of music do you playIf it’s one package or the other, ask yourself if you need the effects. If you do, then you’ve answered your own question. The main thing to consider is that the Behringer amp is solid state, and it you’re really into tubes, you’re going to loose a lot of that benefit going through the solid state power amp. But, that’s just my opinion.Greetings from Austin, TXKen

the impedance mismatch is going to be the biggest problem here, far worse than the distortion that it will give you. you can buy those cheap behringer mic preamps for under $100 to get your signal to line leve. microphones never work properly in an unbalanced signal. you’ll need an input for XLR to get your balanced signal across clear. if you want better quality try a mackie. a good mixer from those guys isnt bad compared to the stuff they sound like. good luck

According to the online spec, the DE898 does have a MD/Tape loop as well as a Video1 in/out you could use. But if it doesnt sound good w/o the EQ, I doubt it will be any better with. Make sure both speakers are wired in phase with 14 or 12 gauge cable and set the front speakers to large in the setup menu. You also did not mention what you were using for the center or rears. Those should be timbre matched to the front speakers which is going to be difficult given the vintage. Maybe a quick note to Santa is in order for a nice matched theater monitor/sub system?

if its just one speaker and there are multiple speakers on the same amp its most likely the RCA cable and/or connection

  6. Carl L says:

Only if the home stereo has a phono input. That will have a built in phono pre-amp.

  7. Harrier says:

Yes, the two turntable phone jacks hooks up to the phono ‘in’ on the receiver, the speakers hook up to the receiver. I don’t think any turntable pre-amps have speaker jacks

  8. Lkn4trouble says:

Unfortunately there is not…..without preamp outputs you have NO way to get the signal from your Sony receiver to the next receiver WITH preamp outputs and if you did you would have volume control problems and ground loop problems galore! If i were you and you really wanted to use these speakers you purchased I would upgrade my AVR with one that has the preamp outputs. Hope this helps you.

  9. gilloz says:

How much more gain and less noise is added to the ability of your antenna to pull in the signal. The difference is the number of dbi gain the preamp is rated over unity gain.

  10. Daniel K says:

It should work fine – that is basically a line out from the amp. Any line input on your PA system mixer will work with that.

  11. Ken C says:

The preamp tubes have metal shields around them. To remove the shields, you turn them counter-clockwise and pull up…they come off pretty easy after you release them.Preamp tubes are shielded to help minimize any noise or hum that might find it’s way into the signal path. They’re not needed on power tubes, as their gain factors are much less than the preamps. The 5150 used a total of 5 12AX7 tubes.Greetings from Austin, TXKen

  12. skii_tyme says:

Sure, you can plug your guitar into the mic input on your soundcard. It might be a little hot, so keep the volume controls on your guitar turned down. The other way to do it is to feed the headphone output of your amp into the line input on the sound card Again, keep your volume low, especially at first until you get the levels right. You’ll of course need a 1/4″ to mini-jack adapter.

  13. conejote_99 says:

mm is correct also inside the amplifier there are active crossovers that is the reason why you get a little bass from the inside speakers it is better not to replace this amplifier

  14. ►BobB◄ says:

basically, the pre-amp takes low levels from mics and pickups and amplifies to drive the amplifier.interface usually does not amplify, it is a zero gain device that allows you to connect multiple inputs without signal loss.
